Nyssa Calkin

Nyssa joined FUDR in 2023 as a field technician, eventually filling the role doing the organization's social media. Nyssa's academic background focused heavily on photography and zoology, leading to a B.S. in Studies in Wildlife Biology. Drawing on her extensive background in visual media, journalism, and digital communications combined with wildlife monitoring and management, Nyssa helps deliver FUDR’s work into accessible content that connects the organization’s mission with the broader public. Growing up along the banks of the Delaware River, with family roots in the region that date back to the mid 1700s, Nyssa is passionate about habitat restoration, watershed conservation, and inspiring local stewardship of the region's rivers, forests, and wildlife. Outside of work for FUDR, Nyssa can be found hiking, floating, rock climbing, exploring the woods with her tracking dogs, and taking photos of nature and community events.
